Podcast episode with Pencil AI

Ever since I heard about Pencil AI a few months ago on a Facebook webinar about Creativity & AI, I’ve been fascinated by the technology they’ve built. Pencil enables brands to take their ad testing to the next level, using an algorithm that creates dozens or more variations on their best ad creative. Of course, the foundation of this needs to be a strong brand identity and high quality visual assets to build on, but the process to create variations for social media ads is best ‘outsourced’ to an AI. In reality there are just too many barriers for brands to create enough variations manually, whether that’s lack of time or ‘the perfect being the enemy of the good’.

Pencil are the cutting edge of improving e-commerce businesses, so I was excited to join them as one of the first guests on their new podcast series, Add Creative. Chase and I talk about learning from my family business, how tactics often cloud the macro trends that marketers need to be aware of, how customer insights generation is still generally underutilised in most e-commerce businesses, and some applicable frameworks for changing that.
